FED:Release food labelling guidelines:Greens
Greenpeace says more than 30-thousand Australians have signed a "Right to Know" petition
urging for better labelling laws.
They're echoing calls by the Greens .. for recommendations of a food labelling review
to be released as soon as possible.
The review began in October last year and isn't expected to deliver its final report
until early next year .. but the Greens say it make sense for the report to be released
before then .. because consumers are continuing to be duped.
Greens campaigner CLAIRE PARFITT agrees .. saying releasing the report publicly once
decisions have already been made is an insult to the thousands of people who've given
input to the review.
The review received more than six-thousand submissions during public consultations.
