NSW: Eleven students hurt as walkway collapses at school

SYDNEY, April 27 AAP - Eleven high school students have been injured when a walkway
connecting two demountable buildings collapsed at Newington College in Sydney's inner
west.

The patients, all Year Seven students aged between 12 and 13, are being treated for
a range of minor injuries.

Some are being treated for spinal damage as a precaution, NSW Ambulance Services Paramedic
Dave Morris told ABC news.

He said the balcony was 1.5 metres from the ground but thankfully there were no serious injuries.

"As you can imagine there's a lot of paramedics down there trying to get these patients
out of there and treat them," he said on Tuesday.

"Thankfully most of the students have minor injuries, a lot of bumps and scratches
and we are treating a few of them for spinal precautions."
