NSW: PM present at Fahey daughter's funeral

SYDNEY, Dec 31 AAP - Prime Minister John Howard was among mourners who gathered to
remember the daughter of former NSW premier and federal minister John Fahey, who was killed
in a Boxing Day road smash.

Mr Fahey told the service his youngest daughter, Tiffany, was a "beautiful child with
endless energy and enormous warmth", Fairfax newspapers report.

Despite her life being "corroded" by drugs, Mr Fahey said the family never gave up
on Tiffany, who largely dropped out of contact after 2001.

Mr Fahey and his wife, Colleen, took custody of their daughter's children Amber and Campbell.

"We never stopped loving you and we never lost hope you would come back to us and you
would come back to your two beautiful children," Mr Fahey said.

Tiffany died of head injuries after being flung from her car as it hit a guard rail
on the M5 at Moorebank on December 26.

She was believed not to have been wearing a seatbelt.

Mr Howard and his wife Janette joined former NSW premiers Barrie Unsworth and Nick
Greiner and NSW Governor Marie Bashir at the Camden service yesterday.
