Fed: Curiosity boost for Latham in polls: Truss

Agriculture Minister WARREN TRUSS says the boost in opinion poll support for Labor
is due to public curiosity in new Opposition Leader MARK LATHAM.

A Newspoll out today puts Labor in an election-winning position, taking a 53 per cent
to 47 per cent lead on a two-party preferred basis.

Mr TRUSS says whenever there's something new on the block there's always a lot of curiosity
interest.

But he says the key thing the public is going to want to know in the longer term, is
what's LATHAM'S view.

He says people will want to know how long the Labor leader can go without changing
his mind and what he'll actually deliver compared to what he talks about day by day.
